Asleep at Light, DoF
DoF aka Brian Hulick
We used to paint our pinky fingernails black back in high school; now he does stuff like Asleep at Light and I do stuff like this.
A couple years ago, I did a short, blurry video-thing for A Path Lights the Way (.mov file, 1.8 MB), a song off Brian's first album, If More Than Twenty People Laugh It Wasn't Funny.
If More Than Twenty People Laugh It Wasn't Funny is available at Highpoint Lowlife Records and/or the iTunes Music Store.
Another of his, A Year In Waiting, can be downloaded for free here, or right here:

(And March and April.)
(Actually they're all good.)
A Year In Waiting might be my favorite DoF album.
Brian's latest, Mine is May, can be purchased at Abandon Building Records. Asleep at Light can be found on Mine is May. Here is Ten Cities. It's on there too. It's intensity in ten cities. Not really. But good.
Brian can be reached at [email protected].
A simple Google search allows you to read reviews (of varying pretension) of Brian's music (my favorite being the one where the reviewer takes credit for Brian's latest album being better than his first).
(Also, Brian is neither British nor Philadelphian.)
A lot of people brag about their electronic music-making friends, it's true. And often times the music they make you listen to is either indistinguishable from the others, or pointlessly innovative (Oh, whoa, you just brought in some digital tire squeals and I totally didn't expect it). But DoF's, um, richer than that, uh, crap. You'll see. What I like best about it is that Brian's fingers make the occasional appearance, sliding up and down his guitar strings. A.) It's always good to know there's a person making the music, and B.) It's good to know that that person picks up a guitar every once in a while.
In short, Brian's good to know.
Send your guesses as to what DoF stands for to [email protected]. The most creative answer--even if it's incorrect--will get you a free copy of Mine is May.
There are currently no DoF tour dates scheduled at this time.
